Spookily enough I have just bought a similar device, the EDIMAX EW7117U, which is based on the same chipset as the DSE part. It *is* supported in Linux, by the linux-wlan-ng driver (the prism2_usb.o module) but I have not got it working yet. Much to my chagrin it works with Windows 98 with no trouble. I mounted mine into a chinese hot oil skimmer (from the Asian Food Warehouse) and I had a lot of fun yesterday driving about with it connected to the (Windows) laptop looking for the Yobbo network. I got it from Sherbourne St and Edgeware Rd (near the BP garage) but at a fairly low signal level, but it is 10km away!! My house is another 1km away and there are some trees in the way. :( I think the reason I can't get it to work in Linux is I am using Debian Woody, which is quite an old distribution now. I think some later distros have the linux-wlan-ng drivers built in so you might have better luck 'out-of-the-box'. Knoppix lists the required module, but to activate it you need to edit /etc/modules.conf and do a depmod, but you can't do this on the CD (at least not with v3.2), but you probably could with a CD install to hard drive. I am downloading the latest Knoppix to play with later. If anyone has anything helpful to add about this I'd like to hear it too. So far I have compiled a new kernel and compiled the prism2_usb driver, but no success loading it yet. There's plenty of stuff on the web about 'issues' with earlier kernels so I'll wade through that eventually. Andy
