Just tried Knoppix v3.6-2004-08-16-EN: Good news: In modules.conf, wlan0 is aliased to prism2_usb, so that's what you get by default. Bad news: usbcore still has the aforementioned bug, so the usb wireless device is not correctly detected and initialised. At home I have modified usb.c and hub.c based on the document, and I can plug the wireless device in and it is detected properly. I do not yet however have a wlan0 interface to play with...
