'Formalisation' and the related political bollocks is the reason that I no longer have anything to do with my local LUG (Wellington - which I initially started ). I have not seen anything good come of this 'formalisation', but no doubt any Wellingtonians on this list will try to convince me otherwise.

So how do you rate Waikato LUG? - Their Wiki shows good, regular activity, based around standard sorts of committee functions.

Perhaps "suck it and see" outweighs "do as I say and not as I do", when it comes to growth experiences?

Not that I'm arguing with your position here :-) - just that it's beneficial when there's space to..

(So far, I'd say the overhead outweighs any benefit for us, + "it just works" anyway.)
