Hi Jamie,

So how do you rate Waikato LUG? - Their Wiki shows good, regular activity, based around standard sorts of committee functions. Thanks, Bart. That's a very insightful contribution. I don't have a
problem with the informal nature of CLUG. And, let's face it, geeks tend
to resist unnecessary formalisation anyway (for better or for worse). I
think formalising might push more away than if we remain much as we are.
'Formalisation' and the related political bollocks is the reason that I no longer have anything to do with my local LUG (Wellington - which I initially started ). I have not seen anything good come of this 'formalisation', but no doubt any Wellingtonians on this list will try to convince me otherwise.
Perhaps "suck it and see" outweighs "do as I say and not as I do", when it comes to growth experiences?
Not that I'm arguing with your position here :-) - just that it's beneficial when there's space to..
(So far, I'd say the overhead outweighs any benefit for us, + "it just works" anyway.)
Thanks, Rik
