Did you read this: << I'm a newbie so please excuse me if I'm getting this wrong.>> If I knew how to contact the person directly I would have.
The email headers give a good clue. But if you joined during the middle of the conversation you might not have known who it was that posted the original email.
I dont really want a stack of emails in my inbox that mean little to me,
Create a new mail folder called clug. Create a filter to move all clug posts to your new mail folder. Set the options for the clug mail folder to threaded - that will keep conversations (threads) together. If outlook express doesn't cut the mustard (I have no idea if it does. Never used it), chuck it out and use Mozilla Thunderbird [1].
I wish I had the ability to help with many of the emails I have received today but the facts are "I dont" and thats why I joined clug in the first place.
Don't worry. I've been on this list longer than anybody, and I don't have the ability to help with many of the questions either. We can all learn from each other though.
All I'm interested in is getting emails on things I'm interested in or can help with, but if the price of that is all the emails I received today then thats the price.
Filters and threads (as above) You can deal with hundreds of emails a day that way.
If I'm doing something that you consider *wrong* or that is disturbing you please tell me, I'm not here to upset anyone.
Some of the old codgers get a bit grumpy now and then. They usually have a good point, but present that point in a rather abrupt manner. You'll just have to, as they say, "get over it".
I guess thats the introductions over and done with.
Welcome. Cheers, Carl.
[1] Or one of the other good free mail clients available, none of which I have had experience with.
