Use the ModeLine generator script[0] at to generate a valid 1024x768 at 85Hz mode, add that to the X configuration file, restart X, and see how you go. Keep an eye on the log to make sure the mode line isn't dropped as an invalid mode for your monitor. > (II) NVIDIA(0): Setting mode "1024x768" > But which modeline? You can change the name of the modeline to include the refresh rate--it makes it a little easier to understand what's going on. > (WW) NVIDIA(0): Not using mode "576x384": > (WW) NVIDIA(0): horizontal sync start (589) not a multiple of 8 > (WW) NVIDIA(0): Not using mode "360x200": > (WW) NVIDIA(0): horizontal sync start (378) not a multiple of 8 That's fine for now. > (II) NVIDIA(0): Using ConnectedMonitor string "DFP-0, DFP-1" > (WW) NVIDIA(0): Inappropriate ConnectedMonitor string. Check your X configuration for a ConnectedMonitor entry, and try changing it to something valid (check the man pages) if you find it.
