Kelvyn, if you tried installing on windows as many programmes as you get free 
with most Linux distros you would have the same trouble on a small hard 
drive.

I found the following with google which shows that your machine would not cope 
with WinXP without any programmes added........

"PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233 MHz
