Using
Copy Control-c
Cut Control-x
Paste Control-v
works between GNOME 2.8, OO.org 1.1.2, Firefox 1.0, and Evolution 2.02.
I do not have Thunderbird installed so I cannot verify that, but I
suspect it works as well ;)
