It all depends on the overall situation and circumstances.
More than anything on the relationship between the child and his parent(s).
To say nothing of the level of factual knowledge which the parents have.

I think I'm correct in saying that there is a small allowance if your child is 
enrolled with the Correspondence School. That's a sort of half way house.

Also the Vicky Buck schools, Discovery and Unlimited, do provide an education  
in a considerably more humane way than the traditional model.
