pppconfig
This does everything that the Mandrake dial-up configuration tool does. It is a console-based program, though, not a GUI tool. Run it from a terminal window as root.
Beware - it shows your password on screen in the clear.

OK guys and gals, I'm at the end of my tether!!!
How the hell are new users supposed to be able to get this distributiion going on a dial-up modem if one with 5 years of Linux experience (admittedly with Mandrake) can't !!! ???
Hell! Do I miss those MDK wizards!
I have spent most of the last two days fartarsing about and all I've succeeded in doing is getting a connect to my ISP, and this only because I directly edited /etc/chatscripts/peers to set phone numbers, loginname and password.
So what have I missed?
Any clues most appreciated. The wiki pages at the ubuntu site don't appear to contain the bits I'm missing either.
Cheers
John
