I have many (~47K) small (~40KB each) jpeg images that I wish to join together into one monstrously large image. I can determine the horizontal and vertical positioning by parsing the filenames (in a form of yyyyy-xxxxx.jpg). I have a world file (.jgw) for each image, but the GUI-based GIS tools I'm (slightly) familiar with cannot cope with such a large dataset.
Suggestions? Either commandline GIS (grass?) or nifty scripting ideas would be welcome. Cheers, Roy. -- Roy Britten, Lead Software Developer, Information Systems Team National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research P.O. Box 8602, Christchurch, New Zealand P:+64-3-343-7818 F:+64-3-348-5548
