I have realised that what you are probably after iswhere to put the dns
server information (although thats not quite what you said)

I would follow Steve Holdaway's suggestion and set the router up to
serve your pc with an ip address via dhcp. Once you have set up that
properly the router will be given the dns server addresses when it
connects, and will give them to all the machines on your lan when they
get an ip address. You will never need to worry about it again.
