If the school is well organised they can do Polytech or Uni papers in Year 13. (One of my sons did several at the Christchurch College of Computing - http://www.ccc.school.nz/ )
Yep. My youngest brother has just started there. I talked to him last night - they are learning Pascal, which I think is a bit 80's really.
I think python would be better: higher level, is actually used, has OO, is easier to learn.
