As I see it, the idea is to make a Linux dist. which is like a Mac in as much as it needs the ability to find the on switch, and not much more, to be able to use it. It's new and hopefully will, in time, grow into a commercially supported Debian derivative. There are said to be number of properly paid people involved. There's said to be about $US500,000,000 of loose change in Mr. Shuttleworth's back pocket to support it, so hopefully it won't go belly-up tomorrow. :-) I think that's the main attraction. It's supported by somebody with wads and wads of dough, who is generous enough to be _giving away_ a computer o/s with the presentation of commercial kit.
