Sorry, different problem. I'm not seeing any name resolution delays, the
failure is instantaneous.

How does one disable this ipv6 cr*p? A line
install net-pf-10         /bin/true
added to /etc/modbrobe.conf(.local) doesn't seem to make a lot of
difference.

Just been doing a gentoo build and spotted this in the manuals.

If you don't have an IPv6-enabled network, disable KDE's IPv6 checking by adding the following line to /etc/env.d/99kde-env:

KDE_NO_IPV6 = 1
