Gentoo stable is just that, and once you have it installed it will go and go, but if you want to install or update anything of any consequence later you will be in for a fair sized download, e.g. KDE is ~100Megs of source code. New kernels are about 35 - 40 megs. ( btw, the combo of linux-2.6.11 and xorg-6.8.2 is a real joy ) However one of the points of the GentooFest is to be able to share source code files around.
