And after you've taken care of the symptoms and want to work on the cause of the problem go buy the book "Pain Free" by Pete Egoscue. Should be fairly easy to find. It is highly recommended by many chiropractors and I met the author in Hawaii a few years ago. He knows his stuff. The book is broken into chapters which focus on each part of the body (neck, shoulders, knees, back, hips etc.) Each chapter contains various simple exercises that treat the underlying cause of the pain - the physical disfunction created because we are not moving certain parts of our body enough. The exercises strengthen the muscle groups that are out of balance which bring the hips, shoulders, neck etc back into proper alignment. Last week I gave my copy to someone I know who does a lot of computer work. He was in so much pain he could barely move his hands behind his back. He also couldn't lift his hands over his head because his shoulders were so locked up. 4 days later 90% of his pain was gone and his flexibility had already improved significantly and is continuing to do so. And the knee / hip pain he was experiencing is also disappearing fast. Masking the symptoms with pain killers will only allow the problem to get worse over time. Deal with the underlying cause and the pain goes away and you get your flexibility back.
