hmmm either a zx80, zx81 or sinclair spectrum ....
Sounds like you and took the same dev path way.

Still, I have no problems with basic, spending about 60% of my time programming 
in one variant of it or another. It is after all the mainstay of VB, VB Script, 
Lotus Script, qBasic and innumerable other languages which make it possible to 
customise a variety of apps on a variety of platforms. 

I have enjoyed watching it grow and mature (yes I miss line numbers too but 
have a program which will put them in for debug purposes) and to be honest find 
it not much different to Java now days in the way it handles most things. 

Having coded in C, Pascal and other languages I still find myself coming back 
to basic type languages for most quick and dirty jobs. It is a pity really that 
in about 5 years time it will probably be gone as M$ are pushing the 
Java^h^h^h^h c# language more and moe.

Still thanks for teaching me how to loop, do while, wend, for if else and break 
, all the basics a programmer needs.
