Everything's possible! I think the reasons with this Armada are more
nefarious though. SuSE 8.0 used to work just fine (sans DMA on the 20GB
though), but it was time to upgrade. Ooops. As the machine is really too
slow, another effort on the DMA was a good idea. In the process the
whole story went belly-up.

There are quite a number of variables in this and it would take a lot of
time pinning it down. Chance could be a factor - the 8.0 files happened
to be this side of the disk...  Or there's some stupid setting needed
for 20GB which the distro installer would put in if I spent the time
installing from 4 CDs on a 4x drive. And so on.
