Hey Robert, I may have misunderstood your email, which has probably led to a series of misunderstandings. As far as I understand it the situation is this: ADSL through a telecom phone line will be PPPoA [1], this includes paradise or other ISP customers who buy their phone services through Telecom (despite Paradise being owned by Telstra Clear). ADSL through a telstra/clear provisioned phone line may be different, and indeed sounds as though it is PPPoE. This indeed may include some paradise customers. I guess it depends who's dslam you are connected to. Anyway I suppose it is naive to say that your customer will have a nice clear letter from his ISP, sent out at the time he was originally provisioned... [1] this is despite some adsl modems offering a PPPoE or pptp interface to the connecting computer - in that case the computer talks PPPoE or PPTP to the modem, the modem still talks PPPoA to telecom. The credentials (user/passwd) provided to the modem by the computer over PPPoE/PPTP are passed on to the ISP by the modem. > -- Nick Rout <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
