> digital coax 0.9 m, DSE item C1394 $29.00

You can probably make them yourself from parts from DSE for about $5. 2
RCA connectors, 1m of shielded cable, and a soldering iron.

> digital optical 0.9m DSE item C1392 $50.00

Optical cables are non-trivial when it comes to connecting the end of
the cable into some connector (and the connector into another connector)
in a way which doesn't lose more light than absolutely necessary.

Save your money because optical has no advantage over coax in the
context of home audio equipment, and it's a lot more $$. Digital is
digital, period. Sentences like (quote DSE product description) "Signal
transmitted as light allows highest possible performance from audio
equipment" can be summarized in one word: rubbish. There are many
factors determining whether audio equipment is any good. "Signals
transmitted as light" it *not* one of them.

I could tell a story about what phantasies some bond&bond droid came up
with for why I should connect a DVD player with a TV using a $300
cable... oh boy.
