Ah yes, it's what it spits out for hardware which is unconfigured. I strongly suspect you don't actually have a driver for this modem loaded (which obviously in turns means you won't be connecting to you ISP either). The tar file you found on some site is probably already included in the package mentioned by Nick. Install that package instead and rerun hardware detection. Btw did you have that modem detected when you installed the system? If the installer didn't detect that it needs said missing package, file it as a bug. Dito when you go into yast to configure an ADSL modem. Yast should detect that this driver is needed and prompt you to enter the DVD. If not -> bug report. > I do hope windoze and the graphical user interface hasn't ruined me for > real computing.... There is a cure... it comes in flat, round shiny pills with a hole in the middle. Be aware though that many applications for Linux are either completely non-existant or do not meet professional requirements. For example, the flag-ship graphics program (gimp) can't even correct a white balance or change a colour temperature, at least I haven't found it looking through all the menues. Things like these are easily a k.o. for Linux. Volker -- Volker Kuhlmann is possibly list0570 with the domain in header http://volker.dnsalias.net/ Please do not CC list postings to me.
