dlink, usb, windows only. Doesn't even support Mac.

The sales reps have the discretion to offer the credit instead of free
modem to Mac users, I guess this applies to linux users too.

No disrespect intended Yuri, but, without an ethernet port, Telstra's free modem does sound inferior to Telecom's offering, which is a breeze to set up for Linux (though using WinXX just to do the modem network initialisation is presumably a short-cut for both). Once the modem's dialed in & registered for IP, it bangs out dhcp addresses like a dream. The Telebom DSL-302G knows itself as 10.1.1.1, its USB port as 10.1.1.2, and hands out 10.1.1.3, .4, etc. etc. Plug your hub into it and you're away. The USB link adds complexity - and perhaps inneficiency? - for Linux networking. [..How about a USB-to-Ethernet-hub?]

Add that to ftp.jetstreamgames and the FOSS support picture is not looking so good from across the Tasman.. (someone recently pointed out to me that.. some American firm?.. actually owns Telstra).

hth, Rik
