While in Suse I upgraded the Nvidia drivers through YOU - as this is what the Nvidia site strongly recommended doing for Suse when I looked for drivers for Linux on the Nvidia site. I will have another look on the Nvidia site for the instructions for modifying the x config file and see if there is anything about installing the drivers without the gui. However, from memory, the alternative to using the YOU tool on Suse was compiling the driver's oneself - at the suggestion of which this poor MS user gets all frightened and shaky. Might be a good experience - but I think maybe a better understanding of Linux in general is needed before I attempt compiling things.

Ubuntu is not particularly better than Suse in respect of the monitor blurriness so I'll probably re-install Suse with KDE.

Speaking of CLUG meetings, is the next one this Tuesday?

Gnome 2.10.? (I think) It looked ok, still a little blurry. The seem

windows and are not very good in Linux?
You need to install the proprietary drivers from Nvidia. You'l find them
on www.nvidia.com - a bit twiddly to install as you need to install them
with the graphical interface *not* running. You may also need to install
the kernel headers - sorry, can't remember. You also need to modify the X
config file as directed ( you don't have to understand what you're doing
here - just follow the instructions! ).
