Funny, I use lftp because it is user friendly. I don't use wget because

Yes, very funny, since wget just gets the specified URL to local disk
and is done with it, whereas lftp requires some farting with -c,
quoting, and ftp commands which I have no interest in knowing anything
about if I can avoid it, otherwise it just barfs. See (any file will
do):
lftp ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/README.mirror-policy
cd: Access failed: 550 CWD command failed. (/pub/README.mirror-policy)
User-friendly indeed. Not.
With http it's as bad:
lftp http://google.com/
Sits there waiting for me. Ho hum. Ok, give it a file then:
lftp http://google.com/index.html
cd: received redirection to `http://www.google.com/index.html/'
cd: Access failed: 404 Not Found (/index.html)
Ooops. No comment.
wget ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/README.mirror-policy
...
19:48:56 (27.63 KB/s) - `ftp.suse.com/pub/README.mirror-policy' saved [2277]
(I set dirstruct=on in /etc/wgetrc, otherwise it would save to local
path.)
wget http://google.com/
...
19:50:01 (26.21 MB/s) - `www.google.co.nz/index.html' saved [2611]
I can see a clear winner here. Uhhm, well for files < 2GB.

Have I gone invisible or wot? It's a real p*sser when you go to the
trouble of sorting through your notes, give exactly the required answer
(probably the only current solution), offer to deliver the software, and
*still get ignored*.
