Go here for details about Linux software for the modem:- http://www.heby.de/ltmodem/ While the modem can definitely be made to go, it looks as if it might be best to stick with a 2.4.x kernel for a while. Please do not expect to necessarily have all the battery saving routines going straight away. nor the videao 3D accelleration. nor for the machine to have 'stellar' performance. The 8GB partition is plenty to start with, but if you intend to get stuck into Linux you will find it a bit cramped after a while. Please give us an indication as to which distribution you would like to have installed. -- C. S.
