dhcpcd is a 36k binary that links only to two libraries from glibc. The rest of the package is a man page and docs, which aren't needed on a minimal system. (If you wanted the man page it is 3k gzipped. Oh dear then you would need gunzip installed). I don't know how big the other options (pump and dhcp-client) are, but I suspect they are not huge. the "minimal" cd for a suse network install is approx 70M. They have room for a dhcp client. Ok if you are doing it from a floppy you might want to chop out a lot of stuff, but the advantage of a dhcp client IMHO means that it would be one of the last things to chop out. Anyway the original point was that the setup cd should have been able to do DNS, either by asking for a DNS server, or picking one up over DHCP. I was curious as to why Carl needed to input an ip address - whether he had missed the DNS step (his fault) or the setup program missed the step (SuSE's fault). -- Nick Rout <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
