Here is my very lightly edited initial posting to the c-clug list: November -------- I have had a request for a general talk on TCP/IP networking and setting up Linux <=> Microsoft interactions using Samba. I realize this is really a broader subject than can be given justice in just a couple of hours, but perhaps we should attempt it? So I'm looking for a speaker or two. In particular I need a knowledgeble Samba configurator, who knows something about the latest version of Samba, and would like to exercise his/her public speaking ability. December -------- I propose we have a "Spiritously Lubricated Gathering", appropriate to the Season, to which close friends and partners would be welcome. Also a last-minute before the holiday fix-ups corner. I have checked that the consumption of Spiritous Liquors is permitted on the premises. It is, but if anybody would care to suggest a different venue for a such party their ideas would be very welcome. 2006 ==== January ------- No meeting. Is this correct? If we have a meeting it would be on Tuesday 10th. or, if we can arrange it, (See below) Wednesday 18th February. -------- Personally, I would very much like to hear a talk about how to set up a VPN. Is there any other interest and a speaker I can persuade to hold forth on the subject. This could mesh with a talk on PAM very nicely. Day of the Meeting. ------------------- Would anybody like me to attempt to change the meeting day? I have had a request to alter it to a day later in the month. Also a change from Tuesday would allow list members who have prior bookings on Tuesdays to come to our meetings. (There is at least one person to whom this applies). I intend to approach the St. Albans hall management to see if that is possible, but before I do I'd like some more feedback as whether the third or fourth Wednesday is a good idea or otherwise. ( The reason for this is so that the St. Albans meetings are not so close in the time dimension to Rik's GLU meetings at Sydenham ) -- CS
