You could set up your own secure IMAP server at home, and periodically
fetch your mail from the ISP by that IMAP server. While on the go,
connect to you IMAP server at home. For sending emails, set it up to
forward via your ISP. That way you can have your secure IMAP without
having to run your own public MTA.
