Try configuring samba as client first, you can also do this in yast. This sets the workgroup name in /etc/smb.conf. See if you need to fiddle anything else there. You ought to be able to run smbclient successfully, or you likely have other problems. That is if cups uses smbclient to connect to the samba server... I'm not sure. Does printing work if you forget about the postscript and ppd part for now?
