Apache is not "dead" simply because it is not the fastest httpd.
We all know that. The whole point about Apache is that it is well written and  
secure code which is readily understandable by anybody who has relatively 
competent C skills. The documentation is exemplary and the ability to install 
modules for built in language interpreters etc. is a beautiful layer of icing 
of the cake. To abandon all that is just stupid imho.

I have been using the extremely fast Boa httpd, but now have a need for the 
modules in another project so will be using Apache again for a bit now.
