Steve, that 2 Gb of stuff will be compiled .o files and so on that you just don't need. Just remove the bloatware .config file provided by the distributor who wants to ram every driver down their customers throats 'Just in case he's a total nitwit who can't ( be bothered to ) learn how to configure and compile his kernel'. To give the distributors a modicum of credit their 'chuck it all in' configuration method will work, but the downside is that the kernel plus all modules compilation will take '10 times' as long and '10 times' more disk space. Looks as if the CLUG needs to put on more, somewhat more detailed, kernel configuration and compilation lessons. Any takers?
