> Just read tonight an article in the Computerworld where MS are going to put > their document formats up for ISO recognition
No, MS announced they were going to register their Office 12 format with the European ECMA organisation (http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/66699). This is not ISO! In contrast, the OpenOffice format was submitted to ISO in September and already has a number of applications supporting it (OO 2, StarOffice, koffice, TextMaker 2005 and abiword), ie is a long shot ahead. I also read the state of Masachussetts may be swayed into adopting MS's nonsense. Let's hope politicians have more foresight than average and see through this clever Microsoft ploy at distracting from the real issue. We all know any amount of proprietary non-documented binary jumble can be included between two well-documented XML tags <BillyHasYouByYourShortnCurlies> ... </BillyHasYouByYourShortnCurlies>.
