yes exactly, I wasn't sure whether Don was proposing to demo stuff that
ONLY linux could do (probably not a lot of an openly demonstrable
nature), or that linux could do better ( we would say most things, but
hard to show in a demo), or whether the aim was simply to show that
linux could do kewl things just like windows can.

I think you can buy them, not sure of the price differential between an
old laptop and a consumer grade active picture frame. screen brightness
could be an issue, depending on the light levels in your home (mine has
acres of windows and is very light so I wouldn't bother with that
particular project. )
