I'd have to disagree for now. Legacy is when it's starting to become
difficult to buy, and when it's noticably more expensive than the
better-performing alternatives. In this case, I can't even say SATA
performs better than PATA, and the other conditions are not yet met.

This is not to say that PATA's days aren't numbered, which makes chosing
the same-price alternative a good move. The biggest advantage is the
additional IDE connectors you get with your mobo - so you can use one
per drive without having to stick in another card. The easier cabling
isn't more than nice, once the lid is closed, you don't see it any more.

Value the 2 PATA connectors on your mobo, because there are not yet any
optical SATA drives [1].
