Bit more off topic... Funny I've been given an old epson 480 inkjet.
under w2k it borks with a message saying the inks are low and to replace them. (had 1 successful print and was surprised to see so much ink in it). any how got sick of the windose problems and tried it out under linux - Now problems no messages say your low on ink and to replace the cartridges etc. only it goes a bit silly after printing 1 or more pages (keeps page feeding). But this isn't annoying enough for me (power off till next time). and i get colour instead of grey colour. Quoting Andrew Errington <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
Hello, Anyone have one of these? I have one with an 'ink well full' problem (this is indicated by the red and green LEDs flashing alternately). It will be at least $56 to fix it, and apparently the repair involves replacing the ink well sponges and resetting a counter in the printer (which allows it to continue printing). I know that I can get a new printer for around $56 (or not much more) but it seems a shame to waste this one since there's nothing else wrong with it. I have found a Windows utility that might work to reset the counter, and allegedly the old ink well sponges can be washed and re-used. Has anyone tried this? Is there a Linux utility for this (since I know Epson is reasonably well supported in Linux)? Thanks for any help or suggestions, Andy
