Hi, folks, yes, it's me again. I picked up one of the low-spec boxes Craig Falconer was offering - I'd already decided on something like this for a low-end development box before my HD packed in - and I've installed SuSE 9.3 on it. (A bit of a change for me - I've been using Mandrake up to now - but a trip from the Seine to the Elbe shouldn't be that far! ;) It all goes swimmingly, except for the Internet connectivity.
I tried using kinternet, and it did everything except talk to the modem. I don't know why - I went through all the steps it expected, to set it up. So I suid pppd, which it needed otherwise it wouldn't login; and that's fine; I now have a network (Internet) connection. Except nothing talks to the rest of the network. kmail won't; konqueror won't; ditto the rest of the pack. So what are the incantations, etc, that I need to get those apps talking to the ISP server? Eg, resolv.conf - does that need being seen to? Et cetera? Thanks Wesley Parish "Sharpened hands are happy hands. "Brim the tinfall with mirthful bands" - A Deepness in the Sky, Vernor Vinge "I me.
