What a very cynical reply to what I thought was a genuine posting looking to employ people.
Actually I'm merely presenting what a cynical reading of Carl's post would be. Remember, there is many a global fast food franchise in town that genuinely wants to employ "permanent temporary staff" at minimum wage youth rates. I love Linux, I want Carl's Linux based business to succeed. I want him to get the best candidate, I want young guys to be encouraged and confident in applying for his post. And given that Dilbert is found to be Funny and "On the Spot" all over the entire McDonald's eating world, I'm certain I would not be the only one reading Carl's post "between the lines". The aim of my reply was to encourage Carl to tweak his ad to differentiate his company from a Dilbertian Hell. That may be done in many ways, pay scales, time-in-lieu rules, "on call" shift rosters, freedom to innovate, flexible working times, telecommuting, ..... But his current ad, as read cautiously, has "Avoid This Job if you want a Life" written all over it. From this principle, all of life and physics may be deduced.
