Actually, "it's not working" is good feedback for us, especially if accompanied by a description of what is not working and the symptoms, together with relevant error messages. Installing Mepis should not be hard work. I am about to do that on an old laptop (v3.4-3) and I expect plain sailing all the way (apart from sound- it's always a pain on ThinkPads). (Oh, and the internal modem. I did it on a 600E, but this is a 600X, which has a different modem). Anyway, persevere. And yes, Windows is this hard (if you've ever set it up from scratch you'll agree). A
