Yes you are right lots to learn I am using mepis what is gnome, the only
gnome I know about is the ones in the garden, sorry joke.

If I remember rightly you are NOT on gnome, but on kde. Therefore it is
right click|create new|Link to application. If you can't sort it now we
will tonight.

PS I think gtk-gnutella is available through the mepis packaging system.
If you had installed it that way you would probably have a menu item :-)
Once you have a menu item you can plonk it on the desktop or on a
taskbar.
