The other major one is called KDE. You can tell the difference by the fact that Gnome usually has a misshapen foot logo in the bottom lefthand corner of the screen, whereas KDE has its letter 'K' and cogwheel logo. While both are quite complex, yet it is alleged by its users that the older KDE is more 'featureful'. You'll find background on them both at:- http://www.gnome.org/about/ http://www.kde.org/whatiskde/ There are literally hundreds of other information sources. > the only > gnome I know about is the ones in the garden, sorry joke. > > BTW thank you, I do not want to upset anyone! > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Nick Rout [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Tuesday, May 09, 2006 2:36 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: RE: Opening programmes with a terminal window > > On Tue, 2006-05-09 at 14:20 +1200, Bernard wrote: > > And thankyou for telling me how to run it - not. > > > > ????!! > > > > What is that about?? > > hmmm not sure... > > > Right-click on desktop, Create Launcher.. > > > > Fill out dialogue box, select prog & icon, OK. > > > > (on GNOME) > > > > *exits* > > > > Thank you....... > > If I remember rightly you are NOT on gnome, but on kde.
