More or less, yes. I don't think you want to teach on a live system, too slow, you want them to install something. I had a look at ubuntu, and its featureless non-existant gnome stuff drove me bananas in 10 minutes. It's also somewhat outdated. If you're looking for something which looks a tad similar to mswindows, which is a good idea if you want to shift someone or take it easy at first, forget about ubuntu because it plain isn't. I didn't look at kubuntu yet. Don't discount SUSE though, it's very good for beginners. Has a live CD/DVD too. The 10.1 demo is in a fortnight, perhaps it's of interest to the schools too.
