While I don't have an ipod, I have been using amarok a little, it is a
nice music player. It is just 2 clicks to get ready to upload tracks
from your playlists to your ipod.

Also supports the usual stuff like displaying album covers (will go look
on amazon for them too), equalisers, visualisers. A couple of cool
things - will get lyrics for the current song you, and will go look up
wikipedia for the current artist.

Doesn't appear to offer the ability to rip from a CD you insert and
convert to a particular format. I'd be interested to see if someone
else knows how to do this either in amarok or another package. I want
to put our CD collection on the computer and output to the stereo...

Cheers,
Roger
