Sounds like bollocks to me.

More likely is that the water and/or cold has dropped the quality of the DSL
signal to a point where its not working too good.  Far more reasonable.

I have heard that Xtra customers are being given priority due to a lack of 
network capacity (due to outages in Auckland), so non-Xtra customers such 
as iHug are being bumped off the network from time to time.  (This from a 
friend of mine who is an iHug ADSL customer who has been bumped off all 
morning...).  I'd like to see a news report to that effect, but it does 
sound plausible.
