So why not use a boot CD like Mepis, Ubuntu or Knoppix?

You can save files to your box and then share them for the next session.

Another good reason to simply use the boot CD - it does nothing at all to 
their existing setup.

Don, I have come to the conclusion, maybe wrongly, that you are not aware of 
what can be achieved with the boot CD's people have mentioned.
