I have a metric stack of sun SS5 gear here if anyone on the list wants to try any of these non x86 distros.
Please contact me off list. -----Original Message----- From: Gabriella Turek [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, 11 July 2006 2:38 p.m. To: [email protected] Subject: Re: CALL TO ORDER > > Welcome. Yep I got started on old Ultrix boxes late 80's, early 90's. > If you need to convert from Solaris ( HP-UX, Irix, etc ), then I can > probably help if nobody else can. > You might wan to look at X86 Solaris in general, and OpenSolaris in particular... even the desktop's written in Java. Sounds cool. I had my own Sun workstation for a while and I thought of converting it to OpenSolaris, but some of the hardware started acting up and did not want to bother with it, especially did not to pay to ship it over here.... If I ever get a spare piece of hardware I will def give it a try. gaby -- *************************************************************** ** Gabriella Turek [EMAIL PROTECTED] ** ** National Institute of Water & Atmospheric Research (NIWA) ** ** PO Box 8602 Christchurch New Zealand +64-3-348-8987x3724 ** ***************************************************************
