Neil and Rik spent some time getting it to work. The wifi chip in Riks laptop is a prisum.

Correct. "Intersil Corporation Prism 2.5 Wavelan chipset (rev 01)". With a well-tested script for quickly switching from client to hostAP mode. CLI-driven. Networking GUI just mucks it up, but there's good monitoring applets & graphs.

Wireless Access Point is up.

8/15 people still here, 4 clients up, working on connections..

Point of clarification: 1 laptop on LAN as client but wireless hostAP (mine); two notebook wireless clients off that; and one more laptop was running on the LAN earlier (Chris / Steve's).

Any questions?

yes I'd like to know how the AP came to be - what is it? Who set it up? What does it run? Is it permanent?

Fullstory y'know? (particularly in light of the pre-meeting discussion of the best way to go).

If I'm there with projector, this hostAP will always be ready on call too. Platform described below, nice & stable..

Cheers,
