We had another go this week at sorting out the HP laptop I had a client
buy last month.
Same problem was reported from QParted that I got with the MDK10 installer.
GParted just wouldn't let me do squat to the windows pat.
I was just checking out a link in another forum
http://www.linux.com/article.pl?sid=06/08/01/209226
when I came across this...

I thought the suggestion that HP were simplifying things was amusing
given the luck I've been having with these laptops, so I sent them a
message, my message and their auto reply are below for those who are
interested.

Comments:
HP DV1000 - Can't get the wifi to run properly using Linux. Problems
with resizing the windows pat on one laptop.
We have been purchasing nothing but HP gear in our small business for
the past year. While we are only a very small company, we have more HP
equipment per head than most.
In addition to laptops we have HP workstations and HP2470 PDAs.
We've also been getting our clients to purchased updated equipment and
sent them off to buy HP gear as well.
The lack of proper hardware support for Linux is disturbing.
Cheers Don
