Hi Matthew,
are you inserting a cd or dvd? I havn't used totem but iirc
totem does not mount dvd or cd disks, it simply plays the video or
wav tracks using it's codecs.
Check the totem configuration for /dev/hdc. It is trying to mount
/dev/hda which is the first ide drive. Normally the cd/dvd drive
is on the second ide cable as /dev/hdc.
Try using Konqueror or Nautilus to mount or play the disks and see if
it works.
Or in console 'mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom' etc.
Also check that the ide cable is not loose from the pins of the cd/dvd
player.
