Alan and I are sitting with his new Mepis installation and all seems 
well except that we do not know how to connect with kppp.

It dials but then says that it has timed out trying to start pppd.
I have never dealt with Linux via a modem and wondered if there are any 
quick tips.

All we set in the kppp config was
Number for Ihug, user login name and password.
