oh cool - didn't know that!   the windows only manual and next to

i think i'll now check out ogg, which i've steered away from so far (for
no reason that remains valid today).

when I was first playing with ripping CDs I saw that ripping on the fly
via a konqueror window looked to be real simple, at the time I didn't
have lame set up correctly.  now that I have I must go back to it as it
looked to be as simple as having a list of folders within the window
displaying the CD contents, each being for the different formats the
machine could encode, it then being a simple matter of selecting the
desired format and dragging those files to the destination.

pretty vague post I know, but may inspire others to offer more details
or suggest the simplicity of it all to someone who doesn't realise the
option exists.  and will remind me to have another look tonight.
